Steppin Out Saturday: Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you're all having a great day surrounded by family & loved ones. I promised you a Steppin Out Saturday outfit and here it is.

I've been noticing lots of oversized sweaters with sequined dresses/skirts lately.

I'm not usually one to wear something just because it's trendy, but I really wanted to give this one a try because 1) I love BIG, comfy sweaters and 2) I had the perfect sequined dress that I had not worn in years... 

The dress was too big for me. All the belts I tried to pair with it competed too much with the sequins. But when I added an off-white belt from a silk shirt and puffed the dress out a bit, it didn't look bad... Now that it's not so baggy, I may actually wear it more often!

The gray sweater was $2! I couldn't resist buying it last summer. One can never have enough gray sweaters... Pairing it with a fun, festive skirt dresses it up a bit. Comfy, warm & cute (at least, I think so).  Christmas Eve outfit done.

And a bunch of my 'old' friends from high school are getting together too. Should be fun!

 

I'm heading up to where there is snow on the ground and lows of -20C. That's a 10 degree difference by driving 5 hours North. Ah, the joys of New Brunswick! I still have some packing to do but I believe that all of my gifts are good to go. Nevermind the fact that my suitcase is empty. I've still got time tomorrow anyhow...

I'm so thankful that I get to spend a whole 6 nights at home whereas last year I only was able to spend 3. Double the family time. How lucky am I? I've really been looking forward to the holidays. Christmas time is very special for us because it's the one time a year when nearly everyone on my Dad's side gets together for some fun traditions and (of course) family suppers.  

 

I think that I'm a little too excited/sleepy to write a proper post so I should end it here. I wish you all a Merry Christmas! I look forward to sharing some of our traditions with you after the weekend. I promise some juicy food photos, cat photos & a gratuitous Christmas Eve outfit post. Wishing you lots of delicious meals, family time, laughs and cuddles with your pets.

gooey marshmallow puffs of heaven

Seriously. I'm so glad there were 3 other people in the house, otherwise I would have eaten all six of these Magic Marshmallow Crescent Puffs without a second thought.

These take about 5 minutes to whip up & 12 minutes to bake. And because you can get crescent rolls on sale for $1.99 (& you probably already have the other ingredients) they're cheap too!

When I made mine, I didn't put the glaze on them and I didn't measure. I just melted some margarine the microwave & mixed some cinnamon + icing sugar on a plate. I dipped the marshmallows and then used a fork to roll them around in the sugar mix. Then I wrapped them up tightly in the crescent rolls, sealing well. Instead of dipping the whole thing in butter as the recipe suggests, I just brushed some margarine on top. I also baked mine on a baking sheet instead of in a muffin tin for easier clean up. They made a mess on the pan, but because my pans were brand new (Thanks, B!) the stickiness wiped right off!

Such an easy holiday party treat. Don't you think?
